a former meteorologist for the weather institute. bryn left the research facility some six months ago after an incident following a conflict of interest; hanging up his bleached white lab coat and trading it in for the old, quiet slateport lighthouse. it's become a stark change of pace but bryn has quickly settled into the slower lifestyle, using his new position to learn, search and reflect on himself as well as the world from atop his new lookout tower.

△ was born and raised in the galar region. he also studied his degree there, graduating from hammerlocke university. he was inspired to go down his career path by the wild area's diverse biome and how the weather conditions differ greatly over such a, technically, small expanse of land. △ worked for the weather institute in hoenn for close to five years before he departed from the facility on bad terms. originally his interests sat firmly within meteorology but due to circumstances during his tenure, it began to shift more towards the pokémon side of the field, such as how weather conditions induce change to a pokemon's power, form and even how they are capable of tapping into changing the weather through their moves and abilities. he studies independently now and has begun writing research papers in his own time.[break][break]
△ after clashing with his superiors over the ethics of experimentation on castform, bryn took the option to leave his position at the weather institute over a more forced dismissal. a couple of months ago he took up a job as a lighthouse keeper, where he is left in charge with the building maintenance, responsibility of its weather station and the care of the resident ampharos. it's a simpler occupation but he's using it as an opportunity to consider the failings of his past, conduct his own research for the first time and is perhaps, quietly, even using it to lie low in a less complicated bubble for a while.[break][break]
△ despite his eventual decision to splinter from the research facility, bryn was present for experimentations and creations of castform for a time. he's picked up a little on genetics from it but it seems being part of the project did more harm than good, as the castform weather condition experiments was a main factor as to why he ended up losing favour for the weather institute. △ bryn was never really all too taken by pokémon in the past. it wasn't until recently that he began to enjoy their companionship and take up studying them in genuine intrigue, shedding the detached professional attitude he previously held when interacting with them. he never got bit by the training bug in his youth and has sparce battling experience. he understands it on an intellectual and analytical level however, but as of yet he hasn't had many chances to partake in battles...
